KATHERINE MORGAN
Artist Statement
I strive to evoke my freedom to observe. I select images that embrace me with a touch of beauty, emotion and intrigue. From the moment of discovery, my image begins to take form. I focus on the tiny details of the natural world.
Each photograph begins with actual light, composition, and color. I capture the images as they exist then bring them into the digital darkroom to transform them into the unique photographic world. Through this process, I have searched to find a deeper understanding and a deeper appreciation of the world around us. |
Biography
Katherine Morgan, principle of KMP, Inc., has a long history in multiple artistic fields of expression. Trained formally in the 1960s in fine arts as a concert pianist at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, she was privileged to have studied privately with Harry Franklin (PA), and Olga Heifetz (NY). After Senior Arts and Design Editor and feature storywriter and assistant photographer for a Latin American Publication in 1990, she became a fine artist agent in 1994. Ms. Morgan arranged the distribution of works to private collectors as well as gallery exhibitions in "ARTSERVE" in Fort Lauderdale, FL, "Eye of the Lizard Gallery" in Vero Beach, FL and the "Addison Gallery" in Boca Raton, FL. Sharpening her ability with the camera, Ms Morgan discovered that her lifelong passion for photography grew into a powerful vehicle for self-expression. She developed this skill as a technical device to record and catalog extensive projects that were created by her former interior design firm.
